Exploring Red Tail Ranch
Although Yosemite is usually the reason folks come and stay with us, Red Tail Ranch is a destination on its own.
On the ranch we have an abundance of wildlife and natural wonders which can be explored via mountain biking, hiking, running, etc. The meadow is a beautiful landscape to gaze upon and the deck is great for yoga and other mindfulness activities. We highly recommend spending an entire day or two exploring the ranch.

Trails
Mountain Biking Trails
Red Tail Ranch sits on the edge of Long Gulch which is a wooded area home to Groveland Trailheads Mountain Biking trails. From the meadow at the ranch, one can follow the trail all the way out and into the vast system of trails.
Groveland Trailheads is a non-profit working to provide access to trails for all. See there website here for more detailed information as well as links to maps of local trails.
Wildlife
Birding and Tracking
Red Tail Ranch is teaming with wildlife of all kinds and we do what we can to protect them while marveling at them from a distance. If you are a birder, this is the place for you. Barn owls, Great Grey owls, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, blue herons, and so many more spend their days in the meadow, oak woodland, and around the house. Check out our bird list here.
Coyotes, bears, mountain lions, foxes, etc all also make the surrounding areas their home and travel through from time to time (no fear, they steer clear of the house!). We recently hosted a tracking workshop and want to welcome any and all wildlife lovers who like to spend their time getting into the nitty gritty of tracks and scat.
